"WPX Contest is the best contest ever!", I have said after WPX in 2008. For WPX Contest 2009, SSB part, I have asked few friends to do a contesting team. The contest QTH will be near my home in Tatranska Lomnica. It's called Biela Stopa. Me, Steve OM7KW, Igor OM6ACI, Martin OM4AAS and Miska OM4AQW have joined the team - OM0A. We are planning to use this contest callsign for WPX.
We are talking everyday about the right antennas and details. Probably it should be Multi-2 on all bands with the Inverted L antenna on 160m, Inverted Vee and beverage on 80m, 1/4 vertical on 40m and beams on higher bands. |

After 2nd place in the QRO SSB category of OM Activity Contest I have tried 1st round in 2008/2009 as QRP station. What a fun it was! QRP contesting is very interesting however I can't made so much contacts as usual. I made 36 contacts and 19 multipliers = 684 points. During the contest was band crowded by Polish stations, I found only twice free QRG for CQ but much effective was search and pounce. |
HI! This Saturday is starting the new round of the OM Activity Contest. During the weekend is big HAM rally in High Tatras and the GlobalSet Emergency is prooving communication. Due both facts I will try to entry for first time QRP category. I hope that Jano OM0AAJ will share the pleasure from contesting and visit me for this nice contest.

Not a good idea to sleep less before contest, hi. There was a huge amount of Slovak and Czech stations on the Air and lot of whistles, digis and other QRM. I have found 3740kHz usable and started CQ. But it wasn't so good as usual so I have soon started search and pounce practice. Surprise, some stations I can't got on first or second call.
Finally, there is 126 contacts in the log and 77 multipliers which gives 9.702 points. Much less than in October. Next Saturday I will be QRV in the OM Activity Contest as QRP and Jano OM0AAJ has announced his visit. TNX es GL! |
Due the problems with the 20m beam which we can't solved before the CQ World Wide DX Contest we have to change our plans from multi-multi to the single-op single band entry. Other team members kindly allows me to run on the topband as MW9W. So I have entered the High power SO-Assisted 160m category.
MW9W have logged more than 450 contacts from 61 countries and 13 zones. That gives the result near 40k and if there should be no better entry from Wales it should be new record (also when comparing with England, Ireland, Scotland etc).
The Inverted L antenna works well, I was very proud to operate MW9W! Thanks to other team members supporting me with the radio, Ameritron amplifier, tea and much more! |
